Physical Web is a Google project, which utilizes the Eddystone URL standard and allows you to push a URL to nearby phones. This was an “appless” solution for iOS and Android phones. Recently, the Google Chrome team removed iOS support, leaving behind limited Android support for the Physical Web. Google did this in order to make the Google Nearby project the new standard for the “appless” experience.
