Error Message - "Bluetooth is not turned on or unsupported"
The most likely cause of the problem you are experiencing is that your hardware does not provide Bluetooth 4.0 support. The information you've provided appears the chipset is using BT 3.0. The best way to verify this is to do the following:
- Under the Apple menu select About This Mac > More Info > System Report > Bluetooth
- In the listing about your Bluetooth hardware, you will see an entry labeled LMP Version
- If the value displayed is 0x6, then you have Bluetooth 4.0 support
- If the value displayed is something less, like 0x4, then you don't have Bluetooth 4.0 support and will need to use an external Bluetooth device
If you need to use an external device see How do I use an External USB Bluetooth Module?
